The staff were friendly honest and helpful. They sized me for some skates and sharpened them before leaving the shop. This place has a feeling like you know everyone in there the first time you walk in. Places like this are a dying breed if you need skates or hockey gear please support this business.

After 10 years with my Vapor X300's, it was time for new skates. I just turned 40 and play in adult league and had no idea what skate to get. I fully expected to walk out spending $1000 on new skates, steel, and laces. Ben helped me find the best fitting skates i've ever put on my feet. We tried a few pairs and ultimately landed on the Bauer Supreme M40's ($400 for intermediate 6.5 fit 2). He baked them, I walked around the store, and had never felt so comfotable while also feeling snug in skates before. After that, he delivered them to the back to get sharpened and in less than 15 min after finding the right skates, i was out of the store and on my way.

Ben was a huge help, very knowledgeable in how to fit skates and was pleasant to work with.

Loved this spot. We’re from the capital district and needed a shop before a tournament and we found the best one. I wish we had something like this in our area that wasn’t a chain megastore. Loved the family vibe. The feel. Bunch of certified beauticians work in this shop bud. A+++ can’t wait to come back

This place is amazing! All the staff were patient and friendly, and helped my daughter find a perfect first pair of skates. If you're looking for equipment, this is a great place to go and is beginner-friendly; everyone there knows what they're talking about and give great advice to customers -- especially newcomers such as me and my daughter.

Wow! We finally found the hockey shop we have been looking for! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Unfortunately we lost our local hockey shop last year. Definitely worth the hour drive for us!

Benjamin helped us and was fabulous! We were out of towners and he took time to fit my son top to bottom for player gear and skates. Helped make the skates fit better for his flat feet with bone spurs. He hammered an area for him. He was so nice and knowledgeable! Highly recommend!!

I rarely leave reviews but this place deserves the recognition. This shop is awesome - they took excellent care of me - treated me very fair - and I walked out of there spending less than I should have. Excellent and knowledgeable staff. You will not regret spending money here.

If you need anything for hockey, this is the place to go! Mckies has the best service you will ever find in a store. I will not get my skates sharpened anywhere else but Mckies.
